We occupied and confronted the steps of the colonial legislature.

This site-specific performance was presented on June 25, 2017 at the legislature building on Lekwungen territory during the 150 years of Canada celebrations. In counter-resistance to the patriotic celebrations of colonial Canada, AcHoRD united Indigenous and Settler-Canadian allies to express embodied stories of transformation.

Co-created by fourteen participants over three months, we used the body as the main conduit to release and begin a process of introspection and reflection. The purpose was to engage in decolonial practices that encouraged us to self-locate and dismantle existing hypocrisies and injustices within our own lives.
